With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, the sounds of love songs will inevitably fill the air. The love celebration is about to begin. Did you like the 7 classic love songs to set love mood in part 1? Now it’s time for the second portion of 7 great love songs.

What makes a great love song? The truth is that a songwriter didn’t compose a great love song, a singer didn’t sing a great love song. But the ones who listen to it make it great. Especially when two twines together as one – a romance.
Be my Valentine and sing me a love song – or, at least, set the music background for a lovely Valentines night!

Love is able to inspire beautiful songs that are just geared to celebrating love. There are zillions of beautiful and passionate love songs from all parts of the world. There is no doubt that love will continue to inspire great songs. Like the following 7, which are great examples of all-time romantic hits by some of the best ever performers.

1) Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran (2014)

Edward Christopher “Ed” Sheeran was born in 1991. His popularity abroad began in 2012. In the US, he made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift‘s 4th studio album, Red, and wrote songs for One Direction.

“The A-Team” was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards and he performed the song in duet with Elton John during the ceremony.  His second studio album titled X (read as “MULTIPLY”) is nominated for Album of the Year at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.

I’ve recently found a great music album with all the 2016 Grammy-nominated artists and hit songs from the world’s biggest superstars Alabama Shakes, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Stapleton, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, as well as Best New Artist nominees Courtney Barnett, James Bay, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly and Meghan Trainor among others. Of course, there is also the “Thinking Out Loud” track, which has 3 nominees – for best record, for song of the year and for the best pop solo performance. I really hope Ed will grab all of them!

(edited:)Ed Sheeran Won The Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Shape of You’on this Grammys 2018. Not a romantic song. Not at all 😛
So, back to the song, “Thinking Out Loud” is a romantic ballad which Sheeran has described as a “walking down the aisle song” (and perfect Valentine’s day in addition).

His ballroom partner in the video is Brittany Cherry (click to find more about Brittany and Ed behind the scenes). After only sixteen hours, the video had 2,000,000 views on YouTube. Watch this amazing song one more time!

(I’m actually addicted to it, what about you?)

2) You and I by Scorpions (1994)

Scorpions are a German rock band formed in 1965. Klaus Meine has been the lead singer for all of their studio albums. The band was ranked # 46 on VH1‘s Greatest Artists of Hard Rock program. It is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, with claims of sales over 100 million records worldwide.

Scorpions’ best-known hit is “Wind of Change” no doubt. But their ballad “You and I” is sure to be one of the most soothing songs from their 13 studio album “Pure Instinct”.

3) Always Be My Baby by Mariah Carey (1995)

There’s no need to tell much about Mariah Carey. Everybody knows her and her art. She’s an extraordinary and talented American singer, songwriter, record producer, and occasional actress. Throughout her career, Carey has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. In 1998, she was honored as the world’s best-selling recording artist of the 1990s at the World Music Awards.

Carey possesses the unique 5-octave vocal range, and has the ability to reach notes beyond the 7th octave! She is even referred to as the “songbird supreme” by the Guinness World Records!

Always Be My Baby” is a song (one of her best) from her 5th studio album, Daydream. The song earned essentially positive reviews by the critics. Most scenes from the video were filmed at The Fresh Air Fund’s Camp Mariah, named after Mariah Carey for her generous support and dedication to this Non-profit organization. A relaxing “swing” (as defined by some critics), this light song is absolutely the one for Valentine’s day – no drama, no hard words, but still romantic and charming enough.

4) I’ll Make Love To You  by Boyz II Men (1994)

Boyz II Men is an American R&B vocal group, best known for emotional ballads and a cappella harmonies. Michael McCar, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris & Shawn Stockman – these are the vocals behind the group. They are still performing worldwide, as a trio. Unfortunately, McCary left the group in 2003 due to health issues). Their most recent studio album, Collide, was released in 2014.

I’ll Make Love to You” is a 1994 number-one hit single. The song, which was written by Babyface, was the lead single from their second album II. It was at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks.

It’s a real pleasure to listen to the song while watching the music video. It’s so sensual and inevitably makes you think of a romantic night spent with your lovely one person. A gorgeous love song. A cuddle by the fireside with the one you love. That’s “I’ll Make Love to You”, enjoy watching!

5) I Was Born To Love You by Freddie Mercury (1985)

Did you know who Farrokh Bulsara is? Known as Freddie Mercury, he is one of the greatest musicians of all time, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was also popular for his flamboyant stage persona and powerful vocals over a 4-octave range!

A singer, songwriter, producer,  master, he was characterized by AllMusic as “one of rock’s greatest all-time entertainers,” who possessed “one of the greatest voices in all of music.” He died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on 24 November 1991, only a day after a public announcement that he had the disease. Although criticized for his sexual orientation, he was acknowledged to be one of the most influential people of all time.

I Was Born to Love You” was released as a single in 1985 on the Mr. Bad Guy album. After Mercury’s death, Queen re-worked this song for their album Made in Heaven in 1995, by having the other members play their instrumental parts over the original track transforming the song from a disco number to a hard rocker. Thumbs up!

6) Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars (2010)

His real name is Peter Gene Hernandez (born in 1985), an American singer, songwriter, record producer, voice actor, and choreographer, known as Bruno Mars. He was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii by a family of musicians. In 2014, he got the title “Artist of the Year” by Billboard and  #1 rank on the Forbes 30 under 30-list. Of course, there are more and more proves of his successful music career although he’s only near 30.

But let’s focus on this amazing song.

“Just The Way You Are” is the lead single from his debut studio album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010). I really love those lyrics coming straight from the heart. And moreover – what woman doesn’t want to hear those lyrics – “you look beautiful in the way you are”. At least, I do not know. Very fresh song, memorable melody and loving lyrics I must say.

7) Forever and For Always by Shania Twain (2003)

Shania Twain is a Canadian country music singer and songwriter, referred to as “The Queen of Country Pop”. Twain has received five Grammy Awards. The romantic ballad “Forever and For Always” was released as a single in April 2003 and peaked at #4 on the country chart and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and made as well the Billboard Top 20.  It was the third country single from her album Up!.”Forever and for Always” was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2004.

The lyrics are soooooooo nice and so is the voice of Shania. It’s a total pleasure to hear her crystal clear pure sound once again.
